Important Scope Information

Neuropsychological evaluations are assessment services designed to better understand cognitive, academic, emotional, and behavioral functioning. These services do not include ongoing psychotherapy, custody or forensic evaluations, or emergency mental health care. When appropriate, referrals for additional services may be provided.

Guidance to help determine whether a neuropsychological evaluation may be helpful

We offer an Evaluation Readiness Consultation (Free) of up to 30 minutes for families who are reaching out with questions or concerns about their child's learning, behavior, or development.

This call is a supportive opportunity for us to connect and talk through what you've been noticing. During our conversation, we'll take time to understand your concerns and reasons for reaching out, learn more about your child's history, current challenges, and goals, and help you think through whether a neuropsychological evaluation or another type of support may be helpful.

During the call, we may talk about:

  • Your child's developmental, medical, and educational background
  • Specific concerns you've noticed at home, in school, or in social situations
  • Any prior testing, evaluations, or services your child may have received
  • What you are hoping to better understand or gain clarity about by reaching out

You'll also have time to ask questions, including:

  • What a neuropsychological evaluation involves and what to expect
  • What kinds of answers you can expect from an evaluation
  • Whether a neuropsychological evaluation is the right next step at this time
  • What the general timeline looks like if we decide to move forward

This conversation is meant to be informative and reassuring. It is not a clinical evaluation, diagnosis, or therapy session, and it does not include detailed recommendations or treatment planning.

If we decide together to move forward, we'll walk you through next steps, including scheduling, paperwork, and what to expect on the day of testing. If it turns out that another type of service or provider would be a better fit, we'll do our best to help guide you in the right direction.

The purpose of a neuropsychological evaluation is to:

  • Understand your child's unique learning, thinking, and behavior profile, including attention, memory, language, and problem-solving skills
  • Identify strengths as well as areas of difficulty that may be affecting academic, emotional, or social development
  • Diagnose or clarify concerns such as ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, learning disabilities, anxiety, or other neurodevelopmental conditions
  • Guide personalized, practical recommendations for home, school, and therapeutic supports
  • Support eligibility for educational services or accommodations, such as IEPs or 504 Plans
  • Monitor progress over time or assess the impact of interventions, therapies, or medical treatments

Our comprehensive evaluations generally include:

  • Parent and child interviews
  • Teacher interview, when appropriate
  • 4–7 hours of direct testing, tailored to the referral questions and the child's developmental level
  • Scoring, interpretation, and preparation of a comprehensive written report provided to the family
  • Feedback session with parents, and when appropriate, the child, to review findings and recommendations
  • Follow-up consultation with the child's school, when appropriate
Each evaluation is individualized based on the child's needs and referral questions.

We provide early childhood and neurodevelopmental evaluations for young children ages 4 years and younger. These evaluations are designed to support a deeper understanding of a child's early development and to guide thoughtful planning during a critical period of growth.

The purpose of an early childhood evaluation is to:

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of early development across cognition, communication, motor skills, play, social interaction, behavior, emotion regulation, and adaptive functioning
  • Identify developmental delays or differences that may benefit from early intervention
  • Assess for neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism spectrum disorder, developmental language disorder, or global developmental delay
  • Support individualized recommendations for early intervention services, therapies, and preschool supports
  • Help families make informed decisions about next steps in care, services, and educational planning
  • Establish a developmental baseline to monitor progress over time

Our comprehensive early childhood evaluations generally include:

  • Parent and child interview
  • Teacher or early childcare provider interview, when appropriate
  • 2–4 hours of direct testing, tailored to the referral questions and the child's developmental level
  • Scoring, interpretation, and preparation of a comprehensive written report provided to the family
  • Feedback session with parents to review findings and recommendations
  • Follow-up consultation with the child's school or early intervention team, when appropriate
Each evaluation is individualized based on the child's developmental needs and referral questions.

We offer parent consultations for families seeking guidance related to their child's learning, development, behavior, or educational supports.
